We believe in the magic of horses.

2020 wasn’t the year for everyone, but it was for Reining It In! COVID hit the nation hard in early 2020 and everyone panicked. We were holed up in our homes, feeling stuck. Many in Southern Illinois found a wonderful way to get out of the house and continue “social distancing”. This wonderful thing was horseback riding.

Reining It In was founded by Lexi and she brought her husband, Gannon, in with her. Lexi has a lifetime of experience in everything equine, though her most profound skill is teaching. More specifically, Lexi is a wonderful riding instructor for all ages and riding levels.

Lexi’s skills include, but are not limited to: barrel racing, pole bending, pleasure showing, ranch showing, pattern riding, reining, 4H, FFA, equine science, equine nutrition, classroom instruction, and training. She has an Associate of Science - Pre-Vet degree, Bachelor of Animal Science degree, & is working on her Master of Arts in Teaching - Secondary Biology degree. Lexi strives to gain as much knowledge as possible in order to be the best teacher, trainer, & coach she can be.

Reining It In offers a plethora of horse-related things: Horse Boarding/Track Living, Horseback Riding School, Horse Training, Instruction, Consultations. The list does not end there, though. Lexi is working diligently on bringing more things to Reining It In’s table.

When it comes to horse training, Lexi offers an approach many do not. Her approach focuses on working with every horse to find his balance both in body and brain. Not only can Lexi train your horse but she can work with you through her lesson program to show you true horsemanship; the ability to work as one with your horse - without gimmicky aides used to monetize the training & lesson industry.

Do the best you can do until you know better. Then when you know better, do better.

Lexi loves the rewards when it comes to training horses. She trains with great patience and knowledge. When training horses, one needs to know how to read the animal before ever starting their training. Lexi trains horses at their pace and she does not advance them until they’re ready.

Lexi can desensitize, bomb-proof, put miles on, show, and train your horse for nearly everything you want. She has experience in the western show world and trail riding, in addition to extensive knowledge of barrel racing and pole bending, and is working tirelessly to add roping and cutting to her list of expertise.

Do you need your horse trained? Contact us! We offer a place to board your horse while Lexi trains or she can come to you!
